The Old Plateau Cemetery is one of the most historically significant burial grounds in the region. Founded by survivors of the Clotilda, it serves as the final resting place for many of the original founders of Africatown and their descendants.

This sacred ground stands as a testament to resilience, heritage, and the enduring legacy of a people who preserved their identity and culture against extraordinary odds.

Ongoing efforts continue to document and preserve the history of those buried at Old Plateau Cemetery. Researchers and historians have worked to identify graves and connect them to descendants and historical records.
